How green does your garden grow?

Presenters from ABC TV’s Gardening Australia program, Peter Cundall, Angus Stewart, Meredith Kirton and Jerry Coleby-Williams will surprise Sydneysiders with practical ways they can decrease their ecological footprint, while still making their garden greener at the Gardening Australia Expo, August 29 – 31 2008, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.    Sustainable, waterwise and organic gardening will be hot topics in the Gardening Australia Theatre where Peter will convince you that ‘Gardening is For Everyone’ and that ‘We Can Survive’ more economically and for longer with a garden full of fruit and vegetables.  Meredith will provide ‘Inspiration For Contained Gardens’ and lead you on the right path to ‘Discovering Your Own Garden Style’; while, Jerry will demonstrate how easy it is to abolish dangerous chemicals in the garden in his presentation of ‘Make Your Own Organic Pesticides’. If your garden has been looking a little bleak this winter, find out how you can add interest to it with colourful flowers and foliage that bloom all year round at Angus Stewart’s Native Garden.  Discover what native varieties you should select and how to care for them in Angus’ daily presentations of ‘Aust. Rainforest Plants for Sydney’, ‘Colourful Native Cottage Garden’ and ‘Great Grevilleas for Sydney’.  See why one third of a million people visit the Tasmanian Botanical Gardens each year to see Peter’s original vegetable patch when he recreates it for Sydney’s final presentation of Pete’s Patch.  Join him as he unearths tips and information to help you plant and harvest vegetables in the comfort of your own backyard. If you still have a few gardening related questions, visit the Ask It, Solve It Stage - where the Gardening Australia presenters will join industry experts to answer all your tricky questions and discuss the best way to care for specific plants in an intimate and informal Q&A panel format.  Do you have an ailing plant in your garden?  Bring a cutting of it to the Plant Sick Bay, where experts from the Nursery & Garden Industry NSW & ACT (NGINA) will be on-hand to diagnose the problem and advise a remedy.   The Gardening Australia Expo has many exciting features to please everyone, including a feature garden developed by NGINA and an ABC for Kids Activity Area with special guest Fifi from ABC TVs Fifi and the Flowertots popping in for regular visits. So join us as we bid Peter a fond farewell and bring you practical ways to make your garden even greener.
