Full details: The Mockingbird The story of a one-way ticket and a second-hand novel Written and performed by Peter Lead Directed by Adam Gelin The Mockingbird is inspired by the rediscovery of a second-hand copy of Harper Lee’s classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Our hero has a life brimming with close friends, romances, and opportunities provided by fate. But a big decision needs to be made. Stay in Sydney to be with a friend and, maybe, a soul-mate; or fly to Perth to be with a stranger and, maybe, a lover? The Mockingbird is honest, funny, and a little bit sexy. Peter Lead borrows from his experience in comedy, rock ‘n’ roll, and physical theatre to recreate a personal journey. Behind the laughter, the drama and the dancing, this is really just a story about some cool and crazy things that happened once upon a time when he was “23, single, and open to whatever the world had to offer.” Learn the perils of owning a loft bed, why you shouldn’t read to kids, and how to make a good caprioska. Pete has toured Australia with comedy and improv shows, including shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Cracker Comedy Festival, and Sydney's first improvised comedy festival, the Twisted Melon Impro Fest. He performed in the Sydney premiere of Urinetown, Terry Pratchett's Men at Arms, and just returned from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Old Fitzroy patrons may have seen Pete in Twisted Melon's Like There's No Tomorrow and BLANK the Musical, and Impro Australia’s An IMPROper Christmas. Pete finished his first novella earlier this year and is halfway through writing a fairytale for the young-at-heart.
