Full details: UC IRVINE EXTENSION OFFERS ETHICS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY AND FACILITIES PROFESSIONALS New Course to Provide Overview of Unique Ethical Challenges Facing Professionals IRVINE, Calif. (June 9, 2008) – The University of California, Irvine Extension announced plans to offer a new course designed to help professionals within the environmental, safety and facilities fields with an overview of ethics as it is related to business, professional and personal considerations. The course, “Ethics for Environmental, Safety and Facilities Professionals,” will be held on two Saturdays, July 19 and 26, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the UCI Learning Center in Orange. “There are many ethical challenges and pressures in the areas of environmental, facilities and safety management that are remarkably unique because the stakes are so high – ethical standards are vital to success in these organizations,” said course instructor, Carlos L. Rodriguez, M.S., CSP. “This course aims to help those already working in these fields to set ethical decision-making standards in their organization and be able to use them in daily situations.” Students participating in the course will learn how to evaluate and implement ethical standards in an organization, enhance their professional practice and leadership ability, and establish a congruent relationship between personal values and success through the process of ethical decision-making. The course will address the following topics:· Methods for evaluating and implementing ethical standards;· Identifying and understand codes of conduct relevant to a specific profession;· Appling ethical decision-making to daily situations;· Recognizing the relationship between ethical code of conduct and company success.
