UC IRVINE EXTENSION OFFERS FINANCIAL ANALYSIS COURSE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY AND FACILITIES PROFESSIONALSNew Course to Enhance Financial Management Skills  IRVINE, Calif. (August 7, 2008) – The University of California, Irvine Extension announces a new course titled, “Financial Analysis for Environmental, Safety, and Facilities Professionals.” The course will be offered exclusively at the UCI Learning Center in Orange, Calif. from Oct. 20-Nov. 17.            “In today’s business climate, where budgets are under close scrutiny, it is vital that financial professionals in environmental, safety and facilities management industries become both fiscally responsible and armed with the latest management skills,” explains course instructor, Phyllis Meng, B.S., CFM, IFMA Fellow, and general services supervisor at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority who has more than 25 years of experience in the facilities management field. “This course provides a forum for professionals to learn the latest tools to effectively analyze their company’s operating and capital budgets.”             Students participating in the course will gain the skills necessary to help them reason, process, develop and present both operating and capital budgets. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to learn about financial anaylsis tools such as Life-Cycle Costing, Net Present Value, Present Value, Return on Investment, and Return on Assets that are immediately applicable on the job. Students will also explore alternative financial analysis strategies to assist in establishing cost-effective practices.
