Full details: The Hipwaders will be performing their "Hip Music for Kids"... and everybody else during this "Winter Wonderland", show. A special showing of the classic film, "The Wizard of Oz" will follow the band. The Hipwaders are a showcase for the kid-friendly songwriting of Tito Uquillas. In 2005, the band received a Parent's Choice Award for their first album, "The Smile Project". The Hipwaders' official self-titled debut album also won a Parents' Choice Award in 2006, and the band was nominated by XM Satellite Radio as one of the best new kid's' music acts for 2005. In 2007, The Hipwaders released the album, "Educated Kid", and performed at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago. The album was voted #5 best album of the year in the "Fids and Kamily" poll. The title track went to #1 on the XMKids Radio and the band was invited to perform live at XM Satellite Studios. The band continues to perform their "Hip Music for Kids" and families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and have had their music heard on PBS, Discovery Health, MTV, Bravo, Superstation, TLC and The Travel Channel. "The Hipwaders extol the virtues of reading, geometry, and the Dewey Decimal System, but their danceable New Wave-ish pop and lighthearted lyrics keep their messages fun" - ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY "...brilliantly fun and surprisingly hip songs extolling the touchstones of childlike glee..." - SF BAY TIMES "...fresh, infectious and insanely danceable...sound(ing) like a cross between the Beatles and Devo" - PARENTMAP.COM Visit www.hipwaders.net for more info, music and videos.
