SHINE: An Urban Arts Celebration is an event featuring break dance workshops, beat mixing class, free community intro to break dance class and high energy dance jam featuring performances by dance crews Soul Mechanics and Affiliated with music by D.J. Prominent.  The event has been designed to combat the negative image of hip hop through careful selection of music, performers, and instructors while celebrating the power and creative energy of urban arts. 

All events take place Friday and Saturday, July 25th and 26th at the Colorado Academy of Music and Dance at 975 Garden of the Gods Rd. Ste. F.  For a detailed event schedule call the Academy at (719) 635-1004 or visit www.SpringsDance.com.  Cost for workshops is $50/day or $80/weekend.  The community at large is invited to participate in a FREE Intro to Break Dance workshop for beginners and Dance Jam with a suggested $5.00 donation to Arts for Everybody, a local non-profit dedicated to helping youth reach their individual potential through arts experiences.  This event has been sponsored by Arts for Everybody, The Colorado Academy of Music and Dance and Whole Foods.
