Politics Is Personal:

Photographs of Presidential and Local Campaigning in Denver

by John Schoenwalter

Denver photographer John Schoenwalter is an ex New York taxi driver who migrated West in the early 70’s and opened and ran the Lower East Side Gallery in Aspen. He got involved in photography as a means of documenting and promoting exhibits at the gallery. John took his first pictures of politicians while working for Westword in the 1980’s but an interest in photographing pregnancies and home births led to a stint as photo editor for Mothering Magazine based in Santa Fe, NM.

He continues his photography doing personal and portrait work.

Recently his photographs have appeared in the Colorado Statesman.
