Full details: “ALMOST DENVER: THE SONGS AND FAILURES OF JIM AURORA”
With Jane Shirley, Michael O’Shea, Eric Mather, Dave Johnson and Dave Shirley as “The Parker Road Players”
Directed by Dave Shirley Music direction by Dave Johnson Produced by Robert Wells and Dave Johnson Lighting designed by Seth Alison
THE STORY: The life, career and music of a forgotten folk singer who couldn’t quite make it all the way to Denver, so he settled in one of the city’s better-known suburbs. His life, closely parallel to the better-known John Denver, is presented by the “Parker Road Players.” His songs include: “Take Me Home, Parker Road”; “Hey, It’s Good to See Tract Homes Again”; “Grandpa’s Swollen Head”; “Heavin’ on a Jet Plane” and “Thank God, I’m Unemployed!” Once you witness the pathetic life and music of this singer, you’ll realize your life isn’t as bad as you thought.
