The Denver Victorian Playhouse opens “Politix, Showbiz on the Powerbiz” on Friday, July 25 with performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m. through August 23. Campaign year is upon us and we’ve drummed up an election year show that tackles all the issues. “Politix, Showbiz on the Powerbiz,” takes you through election year tackling what’s really happening in the world of politics – from image making to in-office issues – with some of the best songs musical theater has to offer. These items have been on the agenda since the first amendment gave us the freedom to sing!
Amanda Goldrick, Guillermo A. Gomez, Rhoni Hirst and Nick Ortiz-Trammell take us through the political process and issues with medleys, snippets and send-ups from “Chicago,” “Evita,” “Urinetown,” “Will Rogers Follies” and “Miss Saigon,” Sondheim, Gershwin and Cole Porter tunes. These are just a few of the many shows and songs that cleverly make up “Politix, Showbiz on the Powerbiz.”
Janet DeRuvo has directed/choreographed/taught and performed in at least 7 states – (including the state of chaos). With over 75 shows to tout, most recent credits include work at the Denver Victorian, Miners Alley and the Arvada Center. Her career includes acting, commercial work, motivational speaking, event coordinator and acting, dance and presentation coach. Currently, she is adjunct faculty at a number of schools.
A fun and swift moving spoof on the political arena – Campaign trail to Oval office. Politicians are easy targets and Politix sings about it!
