Full details:

Meticulous, fearless, efficient predators are taking over Shedd Aquarium. It’s not the sharks of Wild Reef, but guests to the Aquarium’s one-of-a-kind fundraiser, Art Sharks, on Friday, Nov. 13.  This energetic Shedd event features a tantalizing feast of art for the eyes, and scrumptious food and drink for the stomach.

Unlike traditional society events, guests enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as they survey their prey among the amazing pieces of art on display by artists from all over the county, some of which will be created at Art Sharks. As guests hunt, they take note of their favorite pieces and plan a route from their table for the mad dash later in the evening.

Shortly after dinner, served in the Aquarium’s original galleries, the hunt is on! The Art Sharks master of ceremonies and Shedd vice president of animal training and collections, Ken Ramirez, will commence the hunt by randomly calling off the names of guests, one every ten seconds. As soon as a name is called, guests will hurry to claim their most prized piece – just like a shark feeding frenzy! Guests needn’t worry about going home empty handed, though. Each pair will go home with a new piece of art to add to their collection, and perhaps more importantly, a great story to tell.

All proceeds from the event benefit Shedd’s educational programs. For more information or questions about the event, please contact Katie Clark at kclark@sheddaquarium.org or by calling (312) 692-2713. Additional information about Art Sharks is available online at www.sheddaquarium.org.
