Full details:
Mir Pace International's 5th Annual Paddle for Poverty is a kayak race (or any type paddleboat), open to all ages, and includes two courses:  A long course (approximately 6 miles) will begin at 9:00 a.m. off Steamboat Pier, continue out beyond Sunset Point, around Bumpkin Island, and return to the finish line at Steamboat Pier.   Armed with a small fishing net, the short course paddlers will begin off Steamboat Pier at 9:15am, navigate around markers set in the inner bay, “saving” as many Mir Pace ducks as possible, bringing them to safety at the finish line.  A prize awaits the paddler who saves the most ducks!  The pre-race entry fee for both long and short courses is $20.  You can register on-line at http://www.mirpace.org/Paddle5.htm.  If registering the day of the race, the entry fee is $25.00 and registration opens at 8:00 a.m.   Mir Pace International empowers high school students to change the lives of the poor and forgotten through long-term global community building.  Not only do we introduce teen volunteers to poverty and its tragic affects on so many populations worldwide, but we also strive to help them discover the profound and positive impact they can make in service to others. Our proudest achievement has been to ignite a spirit of volunteerism that is now being carried on into their adult lives. Mir Pace is working in the U.S., Guatemala, and Tanzania, E. Africa.   All proceeds raised through the Paddle for Poverty will help Mir Pace to bring life-saving solutions to children and families in the communities we serve.
