Full details:
Catherine Filene was a new college graduate eager to be on her own when she arrived in the nation's capitol in 1918 to take a wartime job in the Women's Bureau of the Department of Labor.  There she would publish Careers for Women (1920), which encouraged women's participation in politics and the world of work.
