About CleanEdison LEED Green Associate Prep Course
The LEED Green Associate accreditation is new in LEED 2009 V3. It is the 'Tier 1' exam and does not require test-takers to demonstrate previous experience working on a LEED-certified building. 'Tier 2' exams are the new AP+ tests and, do require that you demonstrate this previous experience.
A new offering of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED 2009 V3 is the Green Associate (GA) credential. To pass the GA exam requires an understanding of LEED's core concepts and strategies, but it does not require the hands-on technical knowledge that, for example, architects and engineers bring to the actual construction or renovation of a building.
The Green Associate is now designated as a Tier 1 certification and is the only credential available in this tier. At present, the multiple-choice test is expected to take up to two-and-a-half hours. Once a student passes the GA exam, he or she has the option of taking a LEED AP+ exam.

The LEED Green Associate credential will make you more marketable to employers and clients, as it will confirm your knowledge about the green-building business, and your commitment to sustainability.

Where do I take the exam? When do I take it?

Contact the GBCI (www.gbci.org) to make an appointment to take the exam. Appointment availability varies by location and time of year, so you should try to schedule your exam as early as possible. The Green Building Certification Institute hires Prometric to administer the LEED Green Associate exam because Prometric has testing facilities in over 170 locations. Odds are high that there is a testing center near you if you live in or near a city. The exam is computer-based and appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Register early to get your preferred date. You will take your test on a Prometric computer at one of these testing centers, while Prometric serves as proctor.
