Your opportunity to ride through the Acoma and Laguna reservations returns with the 7th Annual Tour de Acoma on Sunday, September 28th. The annual event takes riders on a 25, 50 or 100-mile trek and offers the chance to ride through scenic valleys not usually open to the general public. Both the recreational and experienced cyclist can appreciate the special offerings that this once-a-year, all paved ride provides. The races start at Sky City Casino Hotel (Interstate-40, exit 102) www.skycity.com. The 100-mile leg starts at 8 a.m. To register contact Sky City Cultural Center at 1-800-747-0181, Early registration will begin in June, 2008. All participants will receive a tour t-shirt, water bottle, a Yaak’a Cafe discount coupon, free admission into the Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum, and a discounted coupon to tour Sky City Pueblo, the oldest continuously inhabited city in North America and the 28th National Historic Trust Site. A complimentary, high-carbohydrate meal for all participants will be provided by Sky City Hotel Casino on Saturday, September 27th in the Pinon rooms from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. First, second and third place winners of all three races for women, men and tandem, will receive traditional Acoma pottery jars and canteens.
