NYU HOSPTIAL FOR JOINT DISEASES TO HOLDFREE OSTEOPOROSIS PREVENTION COMMUNITY SEMINARMillions of Americans are at risk of osteoporosis, a silent disease that causes bones to become fragile and break.  To raise awareness and educate the public, the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases/NYU Langone Medical Center will hold a free Osteoporosis Prevention Seminar, Monday, November 9, 2009, 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., Loeb Auditorium, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, 301 East 17th Street in Manhattan.   Topics will include osteoporoses risk factors; diagnosis and treatment; the role of physical activity and nutrition in optimizing bone health; and preventing fractures.  The seminar will be presented by Michelle Meneses, RN, MS, GNP, ANP-BC of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Nursing, and Megan Shea, MS, RD and Simone Harounian, RD, the Department of Food and Nutrition.  Refreshments will be served.  To register for this free event, call 212-598-6016.
