This summer, join the staff of The New Hazlett Theater for one of our exclusive workshops on audio recording and the digital media arts!

Youth will gain knowledge of how music recordings are created, learn skills to help create their own music and podcast recordings, learn the terminology and tools of the trade, and work with experienced local musicians to produce professional-sounding recordings.

Camp Syllabus:

Day one: Fundamentals of sound and hearing; Microphones and speakers

Day two: Recording devices: From wax to silicon in 100 years; Session/sound setup; Photoshop Basics

Day three: Tracking the band: Play it right this time!

Day four: Overdubs: Adding spice to the recipe; Cover design: Creating a product with WOW factor.

Day five: Mixing: from good to great!; Mastering: The importance of order: Why is recorded music all so LOUD?; Reproduction/printing: Attack of the clones

Course is also offered July 13-17, 2009 and August 10-14, 2009
